Medicare for all makes sense because it strengthens the life and culture of civilization. Individuals tax themselves to pay for medical insurance that strengthens their economy more than the tax costs. Very reasonable.
Yet we will not see reason from those who are predators on society. Why ? Corporatist predators are sociopaths who only see civilization as a source of wealth, they hunt for wealth in civilization just as they fight amongst each other to plunder the planet.
Corporatists want privatized insurance that pays private profits, even if the wealth of the nation declines from reduced life force contributing to civilization. Central North America is a perfect example of this phenomena; health costs are the highest of any industrial economy on earth, yet lack of medicare for all places that culture 39th for overall health, its position as a world leader has completely evaporated. The general population is confused into voting against their own health care by wealthy corporatists who have privatized so much of civilization's wealth that even huge personal medical bills are for them like paying for a few peanuts. The corporate class cannot secure income from public profits generated by medicare for all and thus immorally uses predator business logic to propagandize for a weaker civilization that delivers a cash flow to private profit rather than actual health care to citizens so that the nation can be strong and civilization can prosper.
Parallel nonviolent evolution to a new form of independent democracy and a separate sustainable democratic economy, with universal justice for all; this is the way nature is already doing do it. Human intelligence is huge, and we live in the information age. We learn from the middle east revolutions that they loose electronic communication, early on, yet maintain solidarity. And the people of Egypt send pizza to the people in Madison, Wisconsin as a way to communicate their solidarity and compassion. Now the Egyptians are hunkered down attempting to tame a military prodded by the US Government.
The Egyptians and every living creature on earth are waiting for North Americans to take a step, and Mexicans seem to be doing so, tentatively. It is North America's turn to muster the courage to evolve to a level of democracy that facilitates specie focus on real problems; and then plan required actions.
Human evolution is facing an organized financial pirate empire, President Franklin Delanor Roosevelt called them, appropriately, wall street mobsters. Pirate corporatists want to spend on war and not tax themselves. Those who pilfer civilization don't act as if they live in it, they want to profit on life's necessities and own nature, plus leave pollution and birth defects to the masses.
